Summer At Sea: Week 10 Day 3
Psalm 4:8 (ESV)
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
Psalm 4 was written by King David while he was going through an incredibly difficult time. He was hiding in a cave from his own son, Absalom, who was attempting to overthrow David and take his place as king. Can you imagine?
I love that in the most heartbreaking of situations, David turned to God. He lifted before Him the reality of the situation, but declared that his true security and peace was found in God alone. His eyes were turned heavenward, not toward his circumstances. Our verse today is David’s closing statement which proclaims his complete trust in God.
How about you? When you face situations that are difficult, where do you turn? Will you remind yourself of who God is and trust His character? Or will your eyes stay focused on your circumstances?
May your hope, joy, and peace rest in God alone.
