JUDE: WEEK 3 DAY 6

John 14:15

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments."

Jude 1:20-25

20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.

24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, 25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

The book of Jude is heavy. There is so much packed into one page of reading. In the end, the awareness of the spiritual battle raging around us can seem overwhelming, even scary. We don’t want to leave this book on edge, seeing a false prophet behind every corner, but that is not the call of the book either. The call of the letter is to be alert. We are to be aware, actively living out our faith. Jesus is able to protect and keep us from stumbling. When we actively remain in relationship with Jesus, He will continue to give us wisdom and strength, and the reminder that we are loved by God.

If your faith is strong, consider those around you who are weak. Consider those who are easily deceived and discouraged. Guard them from the false doctrines that seek to rob them of their peace. Yesterday we talked about Little Red Ridinghood. Perhaps, your role is that of the Woodsmen (in more modern tales) who breaks down the door of Little Red’s Grandma’s cottage and defeats the wolf, freeing those who were easily tricked.
