The Un-Series: Week 3 Day 3

2 Peter 1:3(ESV)

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,

I Corinthians 1:3(ESV)

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Over the last week, we have read about King Solomon who had more wealth, wisdom, and fame than any other king before or after him. It's unfathomable to picture his life as we learn about Solomon’s unmatched way of living.  

However, I love how our verses for today lead us right back to the heart of the matter. It is God’s “divine power that has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3).  God himself is the giver of all good things and our confidence and security are to rest in Him alone. He is our ultimate source of life, grace, and peace. 

I know that in my own life, I can look inwardly at myself and point all the glory back my way instead of vertically to God. I have a tendency to take credit for what is only done by God’s divine power.

Will you join me in recognizing and celebrating that all we have is a gift from God? He has called us by His own glory and excellence to give Him praise and glory!
