ON YOUR MARK: WEEK 1 DAY 5

MARK 1:29-34

JESUS HEALS MANY

29 And immediately he left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 Now Simon's mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. 31 And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them. 32 That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. 33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.

Watching my youngest walk away to be on his own for the first time made my chest feel tight. I felt gripped with sadness, and worry. “What if ….” fill in the blank; there were a million “what ifs.”

I love the example the disciples set for us in this passage. Simon’s loved one was in trouble and they IMMEDIATELY told Jesus about her. Let’s use “what if” in a different way. What if the moment we have a concern about a loved one we immediately tell Jesus? We can trust Jesus to go and take that loved one by the hand.

Take a moment now to lift a loved one in prayer to Jesus, and trust with your whole heart that He hears you!
