ON YOUR MARK: WEEK 8 DAY 3
Mark 8:22–26
Jesus Heals a Blind Man at Bethsaida
22 And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. 23 And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?” 24 And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.” 25 Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 26 And he sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter the village.”
I went to see the optometrist when I was in my 30s. He dilated my eyes and, after a few minutes, said to me, “This is what your eyesight will be like when you hit 40.” I was astonished! I looked at my watch, and the watch face had shrunk to the size of a penny; I could barely read it! And, true to what he said, my eyesight declined to the point where I now wear glasses full-time.
For those of us who have to wear some sort of corrective lenses, what a gift it is to be able to see clearly as, we know, what is it like to try and read or see without them. The historical interaction that we read about today between the blind man brought by his friends and Jesus, resulted in his sight being restored, and him having the ability to see everything clearly (Mark 8:25). What an amazing miracle!
That is the point of being in relationship with God – we see everything clearly! Maybe not all at once the first time, like the blind man, but over time, the Holy Spirit reveals answers, truth, and wisdom exactly when we need them for whatever situation we find ourselves in!
So, how about you? What situation do you need clarity in today? What question do you have that God can give you “sight” on, so you make the right choice? Just ask, repeatedly if required, and God will give you what you need!
