Summer At Sea: Week 8 Day 3

And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.

The times in our lives when we realize the need for redemption are often the conclusion to exhausting experiences. Maybe you’re coming out of a rough relationship, losing battles with addiction, or have been on the receiving end of some brutally honest feedback. If you reach a point where you recognize the need to break a cycle and make a change, God responds to that decision with a gift beyond forgiveness. 

Jonah 1:17 tells us he was in the fish for 3 days and nights. Those three days are a period of renewal and preparation. While God’s love is eternal and forgiveness immediate, we’re invited to be still, rest, and reset. True grace doesn’t come with demands for immediate action. It recognizes that failure takes its toll. Eventually, we’ll step—or be spewed—out of the deep waters to live life as intended. There is always more work to be done, but for a moment, we can rest and appreciate that God knows we’re only human.
