Summer At Sea: Week 10 Day 6

John 16:33 (ESV)

33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Today we read that Jesus was preparing His disciples for the incredibly difficult days that were to come.  He had given them a glimpse into what was ahead and wanted them to be ready for the upcoming challenges.

These men had walked miles with Jesus throughout His ministry.  They had experienced the wonders of His miracles and sat at His feet as He taught them; His words and actions had filled their minds and their hearts.

As the disciples learned of all the tribulations they would encounter, they had the incredible gift of being able to look back on all the times Jesus had displayed His power, authority, and peace. The memories of all they had experienced with Him would allow them to remember and respond in trust moving forward.

Our verse today was an amazing reminder to the disciples, and to all of us, that Jesus, Himself, is the ultimate source of peace, no matter the circumstances.

Whatever you are going through, take heart, Jesus has overcome the world!
