The Un-Series: Week 2 Day 6

Romans 3:28

28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

I once ratted my brother out for a window he had broken. We had agreed on our line of defense, but under severe maternal cross-examination, I crumbled, and he paid dearly. I thought I was in the clear, but when it was discovered that I too had been smacking golf balls with a baseball bat into the neighboring subdivision, I joined him in his misery.  You see, nothing of our own goodness is going to undo the mess of our sinful nature; we needed something more. We needed someone to untangle the messes we make, even when trying to do the right thing, we often find out that we are part of the problem.

That is why we, the Christian believers, understand and confess that Jesus has paid our price, and we are recipients of his grace and forgiveness. Do you ever stop and marvel at just how much you have been forgiven?  The devil often reminds me of my past and I have come to appreciate just how overwhelming the grace of God is over my life.
