Have you ever seen a movie that was just hard to watch? It is hard to watch a movie where the injustice perpetrated on another human being goes without response.

Have you ever felt lonely or betrayed? Have you ever felt the weight of being in a large group of people, yet feeling alone, like no one can understand what you are going through in your life at that exact moment? What we read today is that moment for Jesus.

“NO” is a strong and powerful word in the English language. We hate to hear it anytime we ask for something, or for permission, and it is certainly not the word we expect or want to hear from God.

The dinner that Jesus and the disciples were participating in was, to the Jews, the most significant feast in their year! It was a reminder of God’s provision of salvation from the Egyptians to whom they were enslaved for 400 years. It also served as a reminder of God’s faithfulness to Israel and His coming faithfulness when He would provide salvation through the coming Savior.
