I love this Scripture! Two women who probably lived respected, but humble lives in their communities, had the wisdom and confidence to defy the most powerful man in their world at that time. Pharoah had the power to immediately have them put to death for their failure to carry out his instructions; these women knew this.

Imagine living where you are allowed to prosper and freely raise your family and then having all of that stripped away and being forced into slavery and severe hardship. Having lived in abundance would make such suffering that much more difficult to endure.

Today’s Scripture gives us the names of the tribes that journeyed to Egypt during the famine; the total number, according to Genesis 46:8-27 was 70 people (not including the women). God used the amazing life of Joseph to rescue His people and settle them in this new land.

With this we conclude our exploration of Noah, and we see, what I think, is some of the most interesting imagery in Scripture. When God hangs up His rainbow, it appears like a soldier putting away His bow. He is no longer at war with humanity, but instead He fights for us.
