I often wonder what my kids and grandkids will say about me when I am gone. I wonder if they will laugh at my quirks and admire my love of family meals and adventures.

The Protestant Reformation had five pillars, one of them was that we are saved by faith alone (Sola Fide). Our faith, according to the story of Abraham, Paul, and now James, makes it clear that our faith is a living influence on our actions.

I think that what we read today is so great that it is difficult and unfair to have to fit it into one devotion. It’s like only writing about one ship in the South Pacific during WWII.  I will cover what we can, but feel free to dig deeper on your own; and if I had to choose a ship from WWII, it would be The O’Bannon.

The first mention of this “giant of the faith” reveals that he was an unknown pagan who was childless, and soon to be forgotten because he had no descendants to keep his name and memory of him living past his last breath.
