In Scripture the use of blood was important and fore shadowed the blood that would be spilt by Jesus when He redeemed us

Have you ever heard someone say, “Do you know who his father was?”  I am sure people must have made that statement about Hezekiah.

Look how confident and arrogant the Assyrian field commander was as he mocked Hezekiah by stating that the destruction of the high places, altars, and calling for worship in Jerusalem was not God's will.

David was not his direct father, but in Israel David was the standard for greatness and it was appropriate for the scribes to compare all kings to King David. 

Everyone enjoys a good story where the underdog comes out on top.  David seemed to be the poster child for the definition of an underdog, didn’t he?
