WHY WE DO IT
Spoken With Love: Week 5 Day 6
The year was roughly A.D. 33. A man named Jesus, the Son of God, was hanging on a cross. God was up in Heaven, watching His Son be killed, knowing He must turn His face away for the sin of the world would be upon Jesus. Flash back a couple thousand years, and that same God is watching a man be obedient in the task of sacrificing his son. The voice of God called out, because He knows the feeling of Abraham in that moment more than Abraham could’ve ever known. God interceded on behalf of Isaac, in the same way that He would on that cross a few millennia later. God sees the faithful obedience of His servant and shows His love.
Spoken With Love: Week 5 Day 5
This is heavy Scripture to read emotionally. You can feel the tension and dread. What you see, however, is simple: A man is instructed by God to do something he can barely fathom and goes forward in obedience. Abraham believed that God would provide a lamb, but he behaved as though Isaac’s fate had been written.
Spoken With Love: Week 5 Day 4
So why would God ever want to ask for the HUMAN SACRIFICE of someone who He made a COVENANT with and LOVED DEEPLY? Well, the important thing to understand is Abraham didn’t have the Bible to read and know these things, but he did have faith in the God he served. God made a promise that He would give Abraham a lineage through Isaac. So that’s why, as we read in Genesis 22:3 today, Abraham gets up and goes to do what the Lord has asked.

Spoken With Love: Week 5 Day 2
Demonstrating great aspects of the faith, Abraham is quick to be hospitable and caring to the three men, who were God and presumably two angels. In his faith he was obedient and was offered love from the words of God honoring him with the promise of a son. After that, Sarah (Abraham’s wife) laughed to herself in what could only be a laugh that was hollow with pain; you can hear the sarcasm in her thoughts. Yet, despite this, God chose to continue to honor the faith of Abraham and used his love as a teaching tool for Sarah.
